TV Preview of Flavours of Australia

Colours of Australia

By Ronald Wan · UrbanWire

Every holiday, throngs of Singaporean families head down under for several days, visiting big cities like Perth, Melbourne and Sydney. And it seems they've seen it all, from the koalas to the vineyards and the theme parks, hence the typical response to the next trip would be, "What else is there to see in Australia?"

Plenty, according to Terence Cao, Sharon Au, Jacelyn Tay and other celebrities who experienced different flavours of Australia in Flavours of Australia, the latest travelogue programme from Ch 8. The celebs travel in pairs to various unique places in Australia and return with souvenirs for viewers to win, ranging from an autographed oil painting to honeydew melon hard liquor.

Jaime Teo and Terence Cao got to "enjoy a candlelight dinner worth $700 in a desert" and Jacelyn Tay "walked the ocean floor, trying to find Nemo". Jacelyn further jests, "I do all the shopping while Hanwei [her team partner] does all the outdoor and climbing stuff." Likewise, Joey Swee also experiences something fun and magical in Australia.

"I got in touch with the other side of me and I realise that life is more than just work and more work. I was in this forest all by myself and I experienced this quietness and happiness," she philosophies in Mandarin.

When quizzed by UrbanWire on her mystifying philosophy, she explains, "I felt so alone in that forest and I wished there was someone with me right there. I told myself I need to get married soon." Perhaps Joey's eagerness to get hitched was due to her team partner Ivy Lee who brought along her daughter. It made Joey "envious of the mother-daughter love they displayed".

Joey sums up her experience pointedly, "It was beautiful in Perth's King Park. The grass is so green, the sky and sea is so blue and the flowers are so red!"
So, next time if someone asked the question, "What's to see in Australia?" go ahead and tell that person there's a bluer sky than the one here in Singapore, according to Joey Swee.

Flavours of Australia airs Tues, 8 pm from Feb 10.
