You Have to Kiss a Lot of Frogs

By Esther Yeap · UrbanWire

Despite the feminist chant of a title, this isn't a book you should write off, as it over quickly proves to be an interesting and universal read.

Karrie Kline is an actress, and like this book's actual author Laurie Graff, her portfolio includes acting on and off-Broadway, doing national tours for these shows, as well as commercials. As she attends a friend's bridal shower at 45, however, an attractive Karrie wonders why she hasn't found her Prince Charming.

This soul-searching takes her back 15 years to remember David and his family. Karrie had been dating the then-first-year surgical intern, and for a couple of months, they were happy. Then, David's father passed away.

His reaction to the death, and reaction to his reaction, left her burnt out just struggling with the emotional roller coaster rides, and so she walked away.

Karrie moved on, to Andy, Roman, Arthur, Jack, and other men.

Some of them, she wished, had stayed, and some, of course, she wished, had never appeared, as she unveils the tales of her dates and relationships, through a series of vignettes, with all the men she had gone out with.

Like Karrie, we all want to find Mr or Miss Right and have our own Happy Endings, but most of us, again like her, go through a series of ups and downs -are left, still searching for the One.

At whatever stage you're at in your love life, there's bound to be one of Karrie's encounters you can relate to. As the proverb "Wise men learn by other men's mistakes, fools by their own," suggests, there's a little lesson we all can pick up from her.

Written in conversational form with day-to-day dialogue over a modern Sex and the City alike backdrop, You Have to Kiss a Lot of Frogs offers a story for everyone, whether you're in love, or out of love. This fictional autobiography by Laurie Graff is absolutely novel, and although this may be her debut effort, it is certain this isn't going to be her last.

No date this Valentine's Day? Pick up You Have to Kiss a Lot of Frogs instead. You might just be happier dateless.
