Have
you dreamt of an exotic retreat hundreds of miles away, where the
only people you’re with are gorgeous and sexy singles? C’mon,
you can admit it, and now, you can see your fantasy come alive in
the reality show Paradise
Hotel.
Some 11 eager individuals are given the chance
of a lifetime to spend their holidays at a dream resort. This is
their passport to leave their ordinary and dull lives and check
into Paradise Hotel. They’re about to play a game that only
has 1 abiding rule - get hitched or you’ll leave paradise.
The lucky participants who got through FOX’s
auditions are Toni, Melanie, Amy, Amanda, Kristin, Charla, Scott,
Alex, Andon, Beau and Zack who are flown to Acapulco, Mexico. Upon
their arrival, these men and women mingle around and at the end
of the day, they have to grab a roommate to secure their next week
stay (think musical chairs).
Paradise
Hotel is a cross between Survivor
and Temptation Island,
where alliances are made, friendships are built or broken up and
it’s also about the desperation to stay together (made that
much easier in such a beautiful place!). The game gets heated up
from the 2nd episode, as Charla (who got the single room in week
1) plays the femme fatale role so well it got Melanie voted off.
Every week, to replace the castaway, the 10 remaining
participants on paradise will be transmitted via satellite to a
studio in LA to choose the new 11th member. 2 chosen audience members
have to convince the studio guests they should be the lucky person
to join the frolicking bunch.
It’s anyone’s game to roll the dice
in the 30 episodes. As there’re many surprises awaiting them,
they have to strategise to prevent themselves from becoming castaways.
So far, the original 10 members haven’t
been voted off. They’ve proved their strength in voting off
2 out of the 3 newcomers in the past few episodes. We can see obvious
alliances between Charla and the guys as she plays Cleopatra to
the horny boys to ensure her stay. That, of course, doesn’t
bode well for the jealous girls, but it’s also what makes
good television.
It will take a lot of catfights and ego-tripping
to win that grand prize of US$250,000 [S$435,550] (a low figure
compared to the winner of Survivor) each for the winning couple.
If nothing else interests you about the game, which sounds like
a rip off from Temptation Island, at least there’re the hot
bodies to drool over.
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
