Synopsis:
Speed enthusiasts can now experience top speed and discover what
it takes to be fastest in the world without stepping onto a race
circuit or running track. New OMNIMAX film Top Speed opens
at the Omni-Theatre, Singapore Science Centre on April 1 2004.
Top Speed is a fast-paced, light-hearted and at times hair-raising
look at the science of speed and why and how humans keep going faster
and faster. Using the world's largest film format and immersive
IMAX theatre technology, Top Speed enters the lives of 4
uncommonly fast individuals who takes daring risks, go to new extremes
and push the science of performance beyond the limits in the never-ending
pursuit of ultimate velocity.
Among them are 5-time Olympic medallist Marion Jones, a mountain
biking champion Marla Streb, rising racecar sensation Lucas
Luhr and high performance car designer Stephen Murkett.
Audiences will also meet blind 11-year-old junior bobsledder, Blaise
Bryant, who dreams of one day racing in the Olympics.
From the drama of competitors pushing through pain and fear to attain
victory, to the fascinating facts of how friction and acceleration
help lead to awe-inspiring world records, Top Speed reveals
everything it takes to achieve speeds that once seemed impossible.
Adding a new comic dimension to the classic giant screen experience,
Top Speed is hosted by Hollywood star Tim Allen, himself
a racecar driver and designer with a deep interest in quantum physics.
Top Speed explores the science of speed but in doing so,
it becomes a stirring and inspirational story about the passionate
pursuit of dreams and human excellence.
