With more than 60 shops to explore, you’ll be stumped at the wide variety of stores situated at HarbourFront Centre. The former World Trade Centre offers more than just the usual mix of shopping and F&B establishments such as Fifth Avenue, U2, Hush Puppies, Starbucks and Yoshinoya (just to name a few). UrbanWire tells you 7 reasons why you should head over there.

Reason Number 1 – iRamen
#01-98 Tel: 6271 7388

What if offers: Tasty Japanese ramen (noodles attributed to Chinese influence) and side dishes

A relative of the iDimSum situated at Bugis Junction, iRamen is definitely a haven for those who love noodles. With an exotic setting and a colourful menu, the restaurant is the right place to have lunch with a group of friends.

The man behind the bowls of delicious ramen is none other than iRamen’s executive chef, Jason Yeo. He mastered the art of preparing ramen from his teacher who hails from Osaka, Japan. Expect to pay between $9 and $15 for a big bowl, with side dishes costing between $4 and $10. Besides making sure the ramen tastes as good as the price, iRamen also stresses good service. Chef Yeo explains that if the “servers are confident, the customers will feel better”.

And if you’re 1 of those who think all ramen taste the same, then you haven’t tried either the Char Syu Ramen or Cold Noodles from iRamen. Char Syu Ramen is a traditional ramen served piping hot with soft, yummy steamed pork belly – mmm… simply irresistible! An all-time favourite, Cold Noodles is a bowl of smooth, silky noodles dished up with sweet sesame sauce. Cold or hot, iRamen has the right noodles for you.

Reason Number 2 – PastaMania
#02-05-07 Tel: 6376 2186

What it offers: A range of pasta & pizza affordably priced, served quick, and tasting great

Expanding from 2 to 8 outlets in less than 2 years, PastaMania has definitely made its mark on Singaporean appetites. A main part of the allure is that you’ll be spoilt for choice with its menu of over 50 kinds of pasta and pizzas. You’ll wish you could try everything, from the Spicy Chicken pasta to the stuffed Cheese Tortellini pasta to the favourite Marinara pasta.

Pizzas come in a variety of choices too, from the ever-popular Hawaiian pizza to the special curry chicken pizza to the mouth-watering Seafood Extravaganza, whose ingredients include prawns, clams and mussels. And if you’re in the mood for something special, you can try designing your very own pizza with over 20 different toppings to choose from.

With quality mouth-watering pasta and pizza at reasonable prices, PastaMania will make you want to go back for more.

“One Italian customer even commented that the food here is better than those had back in Italy,” claimed Selvam Sevasamy, Director of PastaMania at HarbourFront.

Reason Number 3 – Nikko
#02-03-04 Tel: 6271 2685

What it offers: Die-cast model cars, radio control toys

Guys would be pleased to devote their time in this store while their girlfriends shop to their satisfaction. Nikko sells and distributes both die-cast model cars and radio control toys to major local department stores like Seiyu, Robinsons, OG and Takashimaya, while exporting to other parts of Asia like Thailand, India, Hong Kong, China and South Korea.

Take a walk around the shop and you’ll see popular model cars brands like Minichamps (from Germany), Auto Art and Exoto (from U.S.). Simon Goh, Nikko’s sales executive, 26, reveals that most collectors favour the scale 1:18 to 1:43 because the larger size allows them to play with the models instead of just admiring them. Die-cast model cars cost between $100-$150.

One of the special finds in this store is the collection of racing cars modelled after the cars driven by late racer Williams Renard. In fact, because he passed away as a result of a freak accident in his last race, the model car is the only 1 in its entire collection without a mannequin in it.

Nikko also sells model aeroplanes and motorbikes. In fact, they also sell models of the dazzling sports cars featured in the movie, Gone in sixty seconds, by Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie.

This being their main store in Singapore, you should check it out, especially if you’re a die-cast fan.

You can also try its freshly made waffles with your choice of topping – ranging from sweet strawberry to local favourite durian.

The man behind all the delicious food and pastries was a chef recruited from the former Westin Stamford Hotel, now Swissotel. Patrick hopes to introduce a variety of Western food in the near future.
