Taking Britain by surprise with a new full-grown attitude, the UK R&B self-dubbed “Superstar” springs back after 2 years from her maternity leave with Thank You. Brimming with energy and force, Jamelia’s second album brings her creativity and innovation to greater heights as she pens songs like “B.I.T.C.H.” and “Cutie”.

From a totally unknown figure in Birmingham, Jamelia amazed everyone with her powerful voice at the age of 15, which led to the release of her first single three years later in 1999. It’s definitely astonishing to see how much more progress she has going by the strong vocals she displays in “Dirty Dirty”.

This album redefines Jamelia as a strong individual and allows her maturity to shine. “Off Da Endz” features a collaboration with former So Solid member, Asher D, while “Bout” features Rah Digga, who was the only female member of Busta Rhyme’s renowned Flip Mode Squad. Motherhood seems to have helped Jamelia understand her inner-self better, and it is evident through her songs like “Antidote”, where she talks about loneliness.

She has let her emotions flow and penned her feelings in most of her songs. For example, “Thank You” and “Life” exhibit her positive outlook on life and the certain problems youths face such as domestic abuse nowadays.

It’s definitely worth listening to as Jamelia shows the multi-facetted nature of her music through the mix of talents she’s chosen to collaborate with.
Thank you, Jamelia .
