theurbanwire.com: the 14th edition

The SIMS 2 Body Shop contest, stand a chance to win EA games and game vouchers!

Electronic Arts (EA), the makers of SIM Town and The SIMS, and UrbanWire present The SIMS 2 Body Shop contest, promising loads of fun and attractive prizes. What you'll need to do first is play The SIMS 2 Body Shop game, and then send in your specially customised SIM to sims2@theurbanwire.com.

From there, UrbanWire will choose 10 designs based on creativity and effort to be displayed on www.theurbanwire.com. People can then vote for their favourite SIM out of the 10. The creators of the top 3 SIMS (1 SIM entry per person) will receive attractive prizes such as The SIMS 2 PC games and EA game vouchers. Voters of the 3 winning SIMS will be entered into a lucky draw for a chance to win a copy of The SIMS Deluxe PC game.

The SIMS 2 Body Shop is basically a preview of the vast and detailed character customisation options available in the upcoming The SIMS 2 PC game, due for release on Sep 14. You can build your own SIM, create genetic traits for it, give it a face, clothe and put on makeup and accessories for it.

To begin building your own SIM, just click the icon "Build Sims" at the top of the screen. From there, you'll be able to set the gender, age and body size of your SIM. There are 5 age groups to choose from: Toddler, child, teen, adult and elder. Next you can start toying with your SIM's genetic make up. You can configure its skin tone, eye and hair colour. Even the subtle curves and shapes of the face are not spared. Brows, eyes, noses, mouths and jaws are all at your mercy for manipulation. You're given full control of how ravishingly beautiful (or disgustingly ugly) you want your SIM to be.

And of course, what would the ultimate makeover be without makeup? On top of being able to decorate your SIM with fashion accessories, such as spectacles, you can beautify your SIM with a makeup kit that includes blusher, eye shadow, eyeliner and lipstick functions. For the more adventurous, there's even costume makeup, which is like war paint and camouflage. Also, playing dress up was never this easy; there is a wide range of type of clothes for you to choose for your SIM, from formal wear to PJs and undies.

To download a copy of The SIMS 2 Body Shop, go to http://thesims2.ea.com/showcase.php. Or if you happen to be at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, you can pick up the game in CD format. Call us at 6460 8448 from Aug 10 to 27 to see if we still have stocks.

So what are you waiting for? Start altering, customising, and manipulating your SIM anyway you want and send your screen shot of them to sims2@theurbanwire.com by Aug 27 to win great prizes!
