The winners of SMARTS for both school and public categories have emerged after the semi-finals and finals held at Ngee Ann City on the 7th and 8th of January

Semi-finalists for the game will be selected on midnight today, just before January 2nd.

We will select a total of 20 people from the web game rankings, 10 from the School rankings and another 10 from the Public rankings. Of each of these 10, 5 will come from the top total scores list and another 5 will be from the top average scores list.

The winners will be able to enter the semi-finals at Ngee Ann City on the 7th of January, 1pm. Those who do well will be able to enter the finals on the 8th of January.

The game however, will continue to be playable, and donations will continue until April or until we have reached our target.

We reserve the right to also invite 1 or 2 players who come in after Jan 1 and who do exceptionally well.

Introduction

The year is 2090.

The final frontier of space has been conquered by travelling faster than even the speed of light.

For 2 decades, humans have discovered vast civilisations that inhabit the heavens.

Shuttling to the Coma Cluster of Galaxies has become as common as Singaporeans crossing the causeway to buy cheaper groceries in the late 20th century.

Story

It's an ordinary night at Haley's Come-in, the trendiest grubstop in the south-eastern quadrant of the NGC 4889 galaxy, populated by aliens like the kind you see in Monsters Inc or Men in Black.

In slithers Grabol U.Khan, a wizened old Plutonian, who isn't interested in the wriggly Venusian grub-cocktails that Haley's is famed for. Grabol's six eyes are mostly fastened on you, the one they call Explorer with a capital E, the 7th wealthiest being in the discovered universe.

With your in-built intergalactic translator, you hear him say, "I understand that you are a risk-taker?". You nod.

"How about a bet? I'm holding in my 1st tentacle a Coordinates Disc which details the location of the lost plunder of the Vorkian moons. The treasure, as everyone know, is worth 5 million MU (Milky-Way Union) credits."

Curiosity piqued you ask, "How does the wager go?"

"I know you never meet any challenge without answering a question from your Oracle Disc. I'll bet that you can't answer the next question it asks you. If you can, I'll give you my CD. If you can't, you'll pay me 1 million MU credits."

Game Instructions

You’re playing a game that tests your general knowledge by asking you randomly selected questions from 15 categories with a time limit of 50 seconds for each question. Questions will increase in difficulty.

As you successfully answer questions, you will overcome obstacles and get closer to finding the incomparable treasure of the Vorkian Moons.

You will earn 1 donation credit for answering at least 3 questions correctly in each game session.

Each donation credit represents $1 that our sponsors will donate on your behalf to the charity you choose.

If you fail to answer any question, the game is over.

But during the game, you can use 2 secret weapons to buy you time.

You can use your vaporising laser to blast away one challenge and hence skip that question
You can activate the theta channel skip, which disrupts the space-time continuum bring you back a minute in time and buys you an extra 1 minute to solve the question. In this time, you can call a friend or search the Internet for the answer.

No weapon can be used more than once.
